Theodore (Ted) Catino has served as a founding partner at 625 Investments, LLC, in Boston, Massachusetts, since 2011. Away from his various executive responsibilities with the company, Ted Catino enjoys following Boston sports, particularly the Boston Red Sox. Between 1903 and 1918, the Boston Red Sox, contesting five of those season as the Boston Americans, won five World Series titles. At the time, the franchise’s five championships were a league record. Following the financially motivated trade of young star George Herman Ruth, the team went nearly three decades before reaching the World Finals for a sixth time. The Red Sox lost the 1946 World Series in seven games to the St. Louis Cardinals. Another two decades passed between championship appearances, and the Red Sox again fell in seven games to the 1967 St. Louis Cardinals. Boston lost seven game series to the Cincinnati Reds and the New York Mets in 1975 and 1986, respectively. After losing four American League Championship Series (ALCS) between 1988 and 2003, the Red Sox finally made a winning return to the World Series. Facing off against old World Series rivals the St. Louis Cardinals, Boston surged to 11-9 and 6-2 victories at Fenway Park before completing the series sweep on the road. Boston waited 86 years between its fifth and sixth World Series titles, but would only need three years to earn a seventh. In 2007, the Red Sox again swept the series, this time over the Colorado Rockies. In 2013, the team earned a slightly more dramatic 4-2 series win over the Cardinals, bringing the city its eighth World Series trophy. Leave a Reply. |
